Our Story

Three generations of American steel.

For more than 50 years, Major Metals Company has been a trusted manufacturer of high-quality ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) steel tubing. We specialize in A500 structural tubing and A513 mechanical tubing, serving customers across a wide range of industries. What sets us apart is simple: we keep investing. Continuous reinvestment in our facilities and equipment, paired with diverse material sourcing, has allowed us to thrive in an industry known for its sharp ups and downs.

How We Got Here

Built by hand. Run by the Mason family.

Major Metals was founded in October 1973 when Jack Mason incorporated the company in Ohio to consolidate his steel trading and contract manufacturing operations.

In January 1985, Jack’s son Jeff Mason purchased the business and set it on a new course — transitioning from a steel trading company into a tube manufacturing operation.

That transition took shape in 1992, when Major Metals acquired two ERW tube mills and moved into an 8,000-square-foot facility on Kochheiser Road. On August 13, 1993, the company ran its first tube — a milestone that set the stage for decades of growth.

Sam Mason, Jack’s grandson, joined the company in June 2014 as the third generation of the Mason family in the business. Today he serves as President and COO.

Now led by President and COO Sam Mason, the company continues to do what it has always done: invest in its people and equipment, serve customers well, and build a world-class tube-making operation one expansion at a time.
